This following document sets forth the Privacy Policy for Allison Carey-Newman Psychology.

- (a) Allison Carey-Newman Psychology respects your right to privacy and is committed to safeguarding the privacy of our customers and website visitors. - (a) Allison Carey-Newman Psychology will, from time to time, receive and store personal information you enter onto our website, provided to us directly or given to us in other forms.

- information in sessions collected as part of providing the psychological service, if you give feedback, when you complete assessments, and provide Medicare or credit card information.
- (c) We will ensure the physical security of paper and electronic information with the use of locks and security systems, passwords and firewalls and the use of two factor authentication to access electronic systems where possible.
- (d) Additionally, we may also collect any other information you provide while interacting with us.
3. How we collect your personal information
- (a) Allison Carey-Newman Psychology collects personal information from you in a variety of ways, including when you interact with us electronically or in person, when you access our website and when we provide our services to you. We may receive personal information from third parties. If we do, we will protect it as set out in this Privacy Policy.
4. Purpose of holding your personal information
- (a) A client’s personal information is gathered and used for the purposes of providing psychological services, which includes assessing, diagnosing and treating a client’s presenting issue. The personal information is retained in order to document what happens during sessions, and enables the psychologist to provide a relevant and informed psychological service.
- (b) Allison Carey-Newman Psychology may use personal information collected from you to provide you with information and appointments. Allison Carey-Newman Psychology may contact you by a variety of measures including, but not limited to telephone, email, sms or mail.
- (c) If the client does not wish for their personal information to be collected in a way anticipated by this Privacy Policy, Allison Carey-Newman Psychology may not be in a position to provide the psychological service to the client. In some circumstances, clients may request to be anonymous or to use a pseudonym, unless it is impracticable for Allison Carey-Newman Psychology to deal with the client or if Allison Carey-Newman Psychology is required or authorised by law to deal with identified individuals.
5. Disclosure of your personal information
- A client’s personal information will remain confidential except when:
(a) it is required to comply with a legal requirement, such as a law, regulation, court order, subpoena, warrant, in the course of a legal proceeding or in response to a law enforcement agency request.
(b) failure to disclose the information would in the reasonable belief of Allison Carey-Newman Psychology place a client or another person at serious risk to life, health or safety.
(c) the client’s prior approval has been obtained to:
- Provide a written report to another agency or professional (e.g. GP) or
- Discuss the material with another person e.g. parent, employer, partner, third party funder or
- Disclose the information in another way or
- Disclose to another professional or agency (e.g. GP) and disclosure of your personal information to that third party is for a purpose which is directly related to the primary purpose for which your personal information was collected. - We may also use your personal information to protect the copyright, trademarks, legal rights, property or safety of Allison Carey-Newman Psychology, www.acnpsychology.com.au, its customers or third parties.
- Information that we collect may from time to time be stored, processed in or transferred between parties located in countries outside of Australia.
- If there is a change of control in our business or a sale or transfer of business assets, we reserve the right to transfer to the extent permissible at law our user databases, together with any personal information and non-personal information contained in those databases. This information may be disclosed to a potential purchaser under an agreement to maintain confidentiality. We would seek to only disclose information in good faith and where required by any of the above circumstances.

- (a) You may request details of personal information that we hold about you in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). A small administrative fee may be payable for the provision of information. If you would like a copy of the information, which we hold about you or believe that any information we hold on you is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading, please contact us.
- (b) We reserve the right to refuse to provide you with information that we hold about you, in certain circumstances set out in the Privacy Act.
8. Notifiable data breach

In the event of any unauthorised access or unauthorised disclosure or loss your personal information that is likely to result in serious harm to you or other individuals, Allison Carey-Newman Psychology will investigate and notify you and the Office of the Australian Information commission in accordance with the Privacy Act.
9. Complaints about privacy

10. Changes to Privacy Policy
- (a) Please be aware that we may change this Privacy Policy in the future. We may modify this Policy at any time, in our sole discretion and all modifications will be effective immediately upon our posting of the modifications on our website or notice board.
