Most individuals have experienced trauma directly or have been affected by the trauma of someone close to them. A trauma can be described as “a deeply distressing or disturbing experience”. (Oxford Dictionary)
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder is a diagnosis given when someone has experienced or witnessed a life threatening event or severe violence and as a result of this is experiencing a range of serious symptoms that distress them and interfere with their everyday functioning.
Psychology sessions are helpful in learning to process the emotions, memories and thoughts and change unhelpful behaviours after a traumatic event.
